Wibble. There was a frost just 3 days ago, down to 0.1°C and they're forecasting 30°C for next weekend.

Still hot here for some days, then possibility of thunder and maybe some rain.
43 °C with "feel" temperature of 45 (113 F).
We can shower early morning or very late in the evening otherwise the water (cold tap) is too hot...

We frequently get power surges and power cuts here, which are a genuine nuisance. I've got all my electrical apparatus fitted with surge protectors and even have two , rather expensive voltage regulating devices - all to no avail, apparently. This past week, it was the fridge that got zapped and the device that manages the temperature burned out. Unfortunately, we didn't detect it until Thursday, and by then it was too late.
Everything into two large ice boxes, 4 bags of ice.
Well some things got saved, but I ended up having to ditch all sorts of bits & pieces, especially those which were not vacuum sealed. THEN, I had to clean the fridge thoroughly and clean the kitchen from top to bottom.
The upside? I've now emptied the freezer and have a wonderful sparkling kitchen!

Here, the problem is maintenance and vision.
We've got some unbelievably long rivers ( Orinoco, Caroni, Rio Negro, Apure) and there are only a few dams; Guri dam being the most important. However, instead of planning for future growth, our wonderful electricity companies simply fix things when they go wrong, so old cables and systems are not replaced proactively.
That also goes for the water companies, the telecommunications company, the gas company, the petroleum company,....

MrsT is happier than a pig in…whatever, because just in the last month, Hallmark has moved to being a completely standalone streaming service. Previously, they were only available as an add-on through another provider (cable, satellite, etc).

Took me a moment to remember that Hallmark isn't just a card company in the US.

Is it the same Hallmark that makes the cards?

Yes. We're talking cheesy romantic movies and a lot of Christmas movies. Usually really clean stuff although some of the devout Christian folks have protested because they've had a few same sex romantic movies in recent times.

Probably something I would avoid like the plague... if they had bloodthirsty historical series, blood sports like rugby and football, hysterical comedy and some good old police/detective shows, then I might consider a subscription :D :D

I don't watch them at home but my dear late aunt loved them so when I went to see her in Texas she and I would binge watch them. She'd seen most of them a few times but didn't seem to care.
