Did a cupboard recce and have got a small amount of Chinese five spice, both black and white sesame seeds, oyster sauce, sweet chilli sauce, hoisin sauce and white pepper which is an ok stand in for Szechuan pepper - although at the same time not the same thing at all!
So tomoz I’ll be off to the Brit supermarket.
Judging by the amount of Asian ingredients they stock I’m not the only Brit that suffers from this madness of craving Asian food when in Spain
There I will be able to get Rice wine vinegar, Sesame oil, gluten free soy sauce, more five spice and wide rice noodles.
They have lots of other stuff but that’ll do for now, imported goods are about a third to double the price here.
I can’t get gluten free Shaoxing but it dawned on me sherry’s a thing in Spain so I’ll just grab some of that.
AND around there they also have a few Asian restaurants, one of which looks like they understand Coeliacs disease
I’d kill for a nice hot n sour soup right now!
