Ukraine

Sadly, that is quite possible.
I don´t think Zelensky, under different circumstances, would be considered a great world leader; but he´s risen to the challenge, done what he needed to do, shown he´s brave and fearless and retorted to Putin´s empty threats with action.
Plus he´s got a great sense of humour.

I don't think people realize just how smart a person has to be to make it big as a comedian. He was a top comedian/comedy actor in Ukraine. Think about it -- could you write a 30 minute comedy routine that would keep an audience laughing? I couldn't.

He is smart, passionate, and knows how to communicate to his people, and to the world. He is the right person for this time in history.

Agreed.

This is another mistake Putin has made, he has turned Zelensky into a global star, he has been given standing ovations as he has addressed all the major governments around the World, he has become respected as a leader, a communicator and as a humanitarian. Zelensky is getting the attention and respect that Putin wanted for himself, and that must really hurt.
Putin's intention was to kill Zelensky, that now would be a disaster for him, as it would just galvanise world support even further and lead to the slaughter of Russian troops by the Ukrainian people.

Russia has had more troops killed and injured in the few weeks of this war than the US had in 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is estimated that Russia has lost 7,000 soldiers, and had 14,000 and 21,000 injured. Of course, it is hard to get completely accurate numbers in a situation like this war, but if those numbers are even close, Russia is paying a heavy price in human life.

Eventually, Russians are going to start asking tough questions. Where is my son? Where is my brother? Where is my cousin?

Indeed, with 150,000 troops in Ukraine they are already seeing 10% casualties, one must assume a disproportionate number of those injured are front line fighting soldiers, so the effect on capability is greater. I was surprised to read that those in theatre represent as much as 75% of the Russian army and they cannot bring up more support, thats why Putin is recruiting Syrians and private militias.

Russian Troops bombed a theater in Mariupol being used as a shelter. Hundreds of civilians inside, including children.

This from the BBC. A rally held by Putin to celebrate the annexation of Crimea may not have been quite as the Russian state portrayed it.

Its most curious...
Social media is ripe with stories of journalists and presenters on the state sponsored tv channels quitting, sports players not turning up for training with the national squads and muscians/ dancers at the state ballet not arriving for work. This is all rumour, and as always don't believe anything until it's on the BBC, but there are a large number of young intellectuals leaving Russia and they are being interviewed saying that disgust at the war is widespread, but fear of speaking out is holding most back.

Two elderly gentlemen are sitting on a park bench in Moscow talking, suddenly one of them says:
- You know, President Putin says that the special military operation in Ukraine is really a war between Russia and NATO.
-Well, how are you?
-So far we have lost 15,800 soldiers, 6 Generals, 530 tanks, 1597 armored vehicles, 1033 soft vehicles, 280 howitzers, 82 salvage pieces, 47 air defense systems, 108 aircraft, 124 helicopters and 50 drones.
-Wow! And NATO?
-No, they have not appeared yet.
