Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has apparently been superseded as a news story by the war at the Oscars presentation. Hollywood does after all, rule the hearts and minds of the world and Putin doesn't stand a ghost of a chance of world domination against that.

I don't watch the Oscars as I am not a celebrity sycophant. But I think many more people would tune in to see Oscar announcers get slapped up by Hollywood stars. :roflmao:

I still, however, would not watch the Oscars. As I go through the grocery store checkout, I can read all about this sort of event on the cover of the National Enquirer.

Being a comedian is now an endangered species, especially in a room full of holier than thou narcissists. The majority of people heard what happened on the news because not a lot of people actually watched the Oscars, and for good reason imo. If it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious.

I've never watched the Oscars. Not my kind of thing, but then neither is the National Enquirer! But the news I watch is more on point and the war in Ukraine is still front and center. I haven't seen anything about who won what at the Oscars on the news, nor do I really care (did they even make any movies worth watching last year? No idea).

Interesting.

Someone on the ground had to get these suits on the ISS prior to the Ukraine invasion? Not like they can go shopping way up there!

Re the Oscars - from Facebook and such, I understand something happened.

I don't watch the Oscars, and I really don't care what happened. Don't bother enlightening me. I was sorry to learn some years back about the foible at that Stuporbowl halftime where one entertainer had a breast-reveal on national (world?) TV.

Haven't watched the Oscars since I was captive at my parents' as a kid/teen - they had it on. But, blessedly, my nose was in a book or magazine those years back then.

They wore them on the trip up to the ISS when they did the most recent crew change. The invasion of Ukraine had started before they launched. It appears that the Russian cosmonauts chose to wear those colors, fully knowing what was going on.

They took off less than six hours before docking, they packed the suits after the invasion, they knew, people very senior knew. As I said, nothing in space happens by accident.

I saw that. Russia says it caught fire, and some munitions exploded inside -- I guess spontaneously??? Ukraine says they hit it with a Neptune anti-ship missile. :okay:

BTW, it is reported that the crew of the ship was evacuated to other ships. But, the ship is under the sea.

It looks as if Finland and Sweden plan to join NATO within the next few weeks. If so, Putin shot himself in the foot... again.

His threat is to arm Baltic regions with Nukes. Problem with that threat is that he's already armed those regions with nukes. He is threatening to do something he has already done.
