Unusual sandwich flavor combinations

Sure.

I was thinking chicken/duck/quail eggs with fish would be quite odd.

Eggs and anchovy work really well together. Tuna and eggs work well together. Think of the classic Salade Nićoise.

I once made this version: Recipe - Rainbow Salade Niçoise

In a sandwich hard boiled eggs and anchovies can certainly work. And then there is Scotch woodcock...

Yeah I completely forgot that I make tuna salad with boiled eggs in it, but the tuna really doesn't taste like fish. I suppose eggs and anchovies work fine...for people who like anchovies!

They all sound good to me!
However; the first one might be too "hot"for a lot of people. Me? I'd use the entire scotch bonnet, but I'm a chilehead.
Secondly, his recipes are, as usual, somewhat complex. Lots of ingredients there.
Finally, I'd challenge half the universe to prep those sandwiches in 20-25 minutes. That's for a pro chef.
Love the combinations, however.

Yep I think they’d take me an hour a piece minimum. But I’m happy to do an hour if it tastes good.
I think one of the problems with sandwiches is people are fixated on them being fast and simple when sometimes a little more effort can produce something so much nicer.

I used to quite often see my husband and sons just putting lumps of meat in a sandwich because chopping up cucumber etc was too much effort!
I broke them on that one by saying I’ll get you a bit of cucumber/tomato/lettuce etc for that.
When I didn’t offer and they had their plain meat sandwiches they’d always look disappointed.

Eventually they all started sorting out much more satisfying combinations.
The worse offender for the meat only sarnie will now happily spend 20-30 mins assembling the right ingredients for a good one!

My favourite sandwich (the Nigel Slater one I posted some time back) takes well over an hour, maybe over two.
Mind you I’m not sure if it’s as brilliant as I think it is or I’m just very, very hungry by the time it’s blinkin’ ready 😂

Agree. If it's going to taste out of thsi world, why not invest the time?
And the other thing is; the next time you do it, it may only take 45 minutes...and so on.

True. You usually develop a much faster pace with your own methods after the first couple of disjointed attempts 👍

Depends on how much you've had to drink.
Loosens the mind.
Gets the wild creativity going , without inhibitions.
The innovative urge is released, with no shackles!
Until the following day when you say "where the heck did I write down that recipe???"
