What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy?

My son and daughter-in-law gifted us three hex-clad pans. A seasoned them this morning. I'm very excited to use them later today.

Bought is probably the best word...

This arrived today. At the end of last week the lid of the standard 2L sized broke. One of the clips snapped off. Luckily the jug still detects that the lid is on, so it will still work, but in the meantime I took the liberty of ordering the smaller jug now that they are available in Australia. I find the large jug a little limiting at times. I have to double the quantity of some of the stuff I make because of the width of the 2L jug.

The original 2L jug is on the right. The 1.4L jug is on the left. Both are wet jugs, not dry jugs.

I'm hoping to find the receipt for the original Vitamix plus jug because the 2L jug will be covered under the 10yr warranty if I can locate that receipt. I fear hubby has done his usual. (I often retrieve receipts from his recycling and squirrel them away because he has a habit of only keeping them for 12 months even if it is a 10 yr warranty grrr.)

I can buy a replacement lid if needed, but that's not the point. The rest of my machine may no longer have a 10yr warranty because I can't find that receipt. A new lid is AU$60 plus postage.

A receipt is lucky to last three days around me. MrsT, however, will keep receipts for things she no longer owns.

Is keeping a paper receipt even needed in the 2020s? I can take something back to pretty much any major retailer, and just hand them my credit card used to make the purchase, and they can bring up the purchase.

Whatever company SatNav bought it from, should be able to give you a duplicate receipt, at the very least. If It was an online purchase, it should be even easier.

Sadly, I can't.
They make it very clear that they only keep them available in their app for 6 months and via the website login for 2 years. They specifically tell you to keep a copy of it. (That was established yesterday). Plus it is at least 4½ years since we bought it.

The visa card may be the way forward if I can't locate a digital copy on my laptop once hubby is home. I have the break into the locked 4 drawer cabinet and there's only 1 key on his car keys which is driving me mad. In all fairness, he did get 2 spare keys cut and put one on my keyring and another in the house. It's just they are definitely not for the cabinet :o_o: . I've not yet found what the actually do open.

If you have a serial number for the blender, the manufacturer should know when the blender was made. That would be another option.

Not many people keep up with receipts for up to ten years. Vitamin surely has a way to handle this.

Weber grills knows when my red Weber Kettle was made. I bought it in 1995. They know when all my Weber grills were made from the serial numbers. I've gotten parts covered by their limited lifetime warranty 20 years down the road, with just a phone cal, and no receipt.

Refusing to help without a receipt is common practice here.
I guess it’s a way of cutting costs.

I have a receipts spike on top of the bookshelves in the study, then when its full I empty it and put them in a storage box and write the years the receipts covered on the box before I send it to storage.

I’ve only had to retrieve one box once in the last 10 years. The rest of the time an email confirmation has been enough.
Although I do deliberately buy most of my electronics from John Lewis who simply don’t mess you around if something breaks. You can just walk into the shop and swap it over then and there.

I'm definitely going to have to buy a food processor very soon.
A few years ago, I'd definitely have gone for a Cuisinart or a KitchenAid. These days, now I've passed 71, I'm thinking "heck, buy a cheaper version. After all, the last one carried on for 9 years" (it was a Hamilton Beach).

I'm serioiusly thinking about getting this set of fine mesh sieves for my brother, since he's now into baking cakes & other deserts!! I have a set already. He wants to be able to sift flour when he bakes. :whistling:

Ironically, the bit that broke on mine, is still plastic on this one, so I'm not sure what it achieves other than getting away from plastic.

Yeah, the lid on that one is still plastic. But like the container itself that came with yours & mine, it is supposed to be unbreakable!! So how in the world does part of the lid get broken like that?. When it's either dropped onto the floor or stood on with your entire weight, it is not supposed to break. Because Vitamix blenders are supposed to be made using tough materials that stand up to the rigors of everyday use!! Oh well, go figure.

Not a clue. It wasn't dropped. All I did was try to take the lid off and it broke. A metal body to the jug isn't going to solve that problem.
