What did you cook or eat today (February 2025)

I had some toast from homemade brioche for breakfast at around 2:30pm (early for me) and had some spaghett and meatballs with leftover meatballs from the sub sandwiches I made a few days back plus homemade pasta. Quite yummy!

I think we are having smoked turkey soup later. DH thinks he might have the stomach flu. No idea how he is sick and I am not (knocking on wood and keeping fingers crossed).

Made some mushroom gravy with the tallow I made earlier. I think my base gravy routine just changed because this one with tallow is SO much BETTER than anything I've ever made with off the shelf oils or fats.

Had the gravy on dressing I made with some of last years in the freezer veggies, mashed sweet potatoes, and balsamic honey glazed carrots.

Barriehie funny, ya' know when I was growing up, in our house anyways, it was okey dokey to give kids a small glass of wine with a celebratory meal.
I want to say we were like 9 and 10 years old or so and we got to sit at the "adult table" for dinner and were given just a cordial glass size of wine.
I still have those glasses to this day, I love them! I'll have to pull them out soon and use one for my evening glass.

Same thing in our house except we'd "sneak" a glass after yardwork... 🤫

Tea was meant to have been at 4:30pm because of a 5-7pm lecture. The last one before my exam in databases. But after multiple warnings including 40mm diameter hailstones recorded in Canberra (yet again), I lost electricity at 4:20pm ish. No lightning, no thunder it just went out. And stayed down right until the end of my lecture. Grrr

So my plans went out of the window until it came back up whilst was making the big salad instead of a little salad with a Chickpea pancake.

So I'll just eat some of the salad and save it for tomorrow.

The chickpea flour was a 1:2 flour: water ratio and left to 'soak' for several hours which seems to have improved it. I know know exactly how much this pan will take and what works. I might just manage to convince my OH with this one.
