I’m still in Omaha with my mom, and she wants me to cook. When it comes to food, Nebraska is known for two things: beef and corn. Of course, I had to combine them. And, then, add more things to them.
First, I dressed the steak and potato wedges with a mix of oil, savory, and roasted garlic:
Then, I put the potatoes in the oven. I'd normally wait until the potatoes were halfway done before starting the steaks, but these were absolute monsters, so I put it on a lower heat for a longer time:
Look at how beautiful they are. Can you believe that these sirloin gems only cost $7.99/pound? Nebraska loves their steak.
Next, I sautéed mushrooms.
My mom wanted peppers and onions, so I sautéed some of those, too. And, of course, the corn was boiling while all this was going on. The potatoes were a little bit before the steaks, which took a LONG time to cook through, even to medium rare.
Still, it was worth the wait.
