What did you cook or eat today (March 2025)

Bubble and Squeak waffles n poached eggs.
Not the best pic cos I always give the best looking eggs to others and eat the worse looking ones myself 😂

Cooked in the outdoor kitchen, which was wonderful cos I use two waffle irons and they kick out a ridiculous amount of heat.

Best looking or worst looking they're going to get chewed!

I put potatoes on the IP and they're done in 10 min.!
As my Ninja Foodi is a multi-cooker I keep meaning to Pressure Cook some potatoes, drain the liquid and the fluff up the potatoes and cover with a bit of oil before returning them to the pot and Air Fry for amazing roast potatoes!

For sure! I either microwave or IP pressure cook and then cube, oil, and air fry. 12 minutes at 375 is perfectly browned/crispy outside. I'll have to note that recipe in the Air fryer cooking.

Food from my Japan trip last week - warning: plenty of sushi :)

Japan's convenience stores have great stuff and we ate from those almost daily. I ate several types of these surimi 'crab' legs with different filligs which were all delicious:

Traditional snack called 'Dango' which is a kind of rice dumpling. Ours were 'soy and sweet' flavour:

Chutoro bluefin Tuna.

Unagi (eel) sushi:

Aburi Otoro (torched fatty tuna belly). Otoro is the most prized of the tuna cuts and in Japan it's half the price as it is in Singapore. We ate loads of it on this trip!

These 7-11 meatballs I took back to the hotel as a snack:

Japanese style spaghetti joint which we used to have in Singapore, but they exited a couple of years ago. My daughter missed it so we went in. I had this crab and prawn aglio e olio which was much better than it looks in this (sideways) photo:

Hot dog and fries at Shibuya Sky observation lounge cafe:

This katsu curry rice was enormous - there were two cutlets and a load of spicy gravy:

Family Mart (convenience chain) famous 'Famichiki' chicken cutlet. It's great! Nice and crunchy and fatty:

A rather underwhelming hotplate steak. I can do better tbh. My daughter had a wagyu steak.

I always like to try the local McDonalds offerings. Cherry blossom deco on the bag:

What's it gonna be like? In Singapore there have been Samurai burgers in the past; not exactly like this though:

It wasn't good. :( Waaayy too much soy sauce flavour and the patty was rather tasteless. Oh well. You never know - sometimes they can score a big hit at McDs.
