I reckon sometimes if someone’s not really engaged with doing a job and theres a slightly easier way of doing it like cutting the veg larger they deviate for that brief moment then go back to dutifully following the instructions.
A bit of a “that’ll be alright” moment. Like they are doing a good job precisely following your instructions but not thinking at the same time.
Well thats how Mr SSOAP follows instructions. If I leave him to it with very vague instructions that it needs to be cooked a certain way he finds out how and does it well.
Anyway hope you get some food soon!!!
Rather baffling I’d say. What I really just don't get is why with a Masters degree in Physics and Maths, he can't wrap his head around the fact that "larger lumps (of the same thing) take longer to cook" . It's like he forgets the laws of physics still apply!
He did apologise this morning and say he'll do better today. I pointed out that we're on something different for the next 2 days due to the 34°C that's forecast for this weekend. So it will be Monday before the test of the cauliflower and broccoli will get cooked. I expect he'll have forgotten by then, lol.
If you were to take an entire head of cauliflower, he would cut it into maybe 8-10 pieces, and 4 for the head of broccoli. I'd be cutting the same cauliflower into 40-50 pieces (including the stem). He'd serve 2 pieces each of the (still raw) cauliflower. I'd be serving 10-15 pieces each.
Sounds good. DD loves pumpkin anything. Did you post the recipe or a link to the recipe? Not sure if you cook drinks? Does heating it count? Anyway I have a lovely new bedtime drink.
I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon pudding things but Mr SSOAP is. He absolutely loves the pumpkin spiced lattes that come out at Christmas or a cinnamon whirl or doughnut.
We’ve tried the syrups but they aren’t great and the pumpkin spice mix isn’t really sold here.
I saw a recipe for Cinnamon milk and thought I‘d try it out in my hot chocolate maker (the machine is really sold as a latte coffee frother thingy but it makes amazing velvety hot chocolate) and now I’m a complete convert.
Making your own ‘pumkin’ spice mix is great!! Thanks ‘Merica!

Yes it was so enjoyed its worthy of its own label
In this recipe I did use the suggested maple syrup to sweeten and it was lovely.
I didn’t but here you go. Her pumpkin spice mix is in the blurb rather than the actual recipe.Sounds good. DD loves pumpkin anything. Did you post the recipe or a link to the recipe?
So how was it? You didn't say.I went to the winter fair earlier this week, and I finally got to eat a long-awaited apple dumpling. I usually get one every year, but it was the first one I’d had since 2019 (the fair was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic, and then last year I was still on crutches and it was all I could do to hobble to the arena and watch the horse show).View attachment 106989
Quite a hot day here today for the end of spring. We hit 33°C but it was a humid 33°C.
Lunch was a huge bowl of fresh fruit along with homemade yoghurt and a good helping of raspberries fresh from the garden.

Evening meal was a cold soup (Recipe - Strawberry Gazpacho with a Lemon, Lime & Coriander Sauce), so yeah, more fruit, along with onion and red peppers.
