What did you cook or eat today (November 2023)?

Yeah, I know. Still sick as well sadly. Even hubby isn't getting over this bug.

Those raspberries really surprised me. I picked almost 750g of them and that was only the second 'harvest' from them. Earlier in the week I had about 250g from them. They have done really well this year. They were already flowering when I left for the UK. Now my strawberries on the other hand, are completely normal and only just starting to flower and fruit swell.

Strawberries here just budding now. Just watered garden.

Getting ready for dinner tonight. Sunday and bbq.
Lamb chops and sausages out. Salad made. Just mash to do. Sons going to be late as they are boating/ water skiing with the kids at lake hood. Man made lake an hour south of us.
Daughter bringing sliders. Quiet day for me really.

Last night, we went to Applebee’s, where MrsT had ribs and I had my free dinner item - I chose the 6oz steak, with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli, same as last year.

It was fine, no issues, and I appreciated that our server, even though it was insanely busy, stopped when she saw I hadn’t cut into my steak yet (I eat all of one thing before moving on to the next) and asked me to cut into to make sure it was done to my liking.

Applebee’s, for all the 💩 I and others give them, actually do a good job on Veterans’ Day - six full meals to choose from, and a gift card for money off your next meal. Most places either just give you one item for free and you have to buy something else, or it’s just something small.

I heard that Applebee's makes you die a little inside every time you eat there. Is there any truth to that?

It’s like any mid-priced national chain, with picture menus dishes that start at about 1500 calories.

I don’t know if they still have it, but at one time, they did have the Best Dessert Ever, though…a butterscotch blondie with a scoop of ice cream on top, covered in hot caramel sauce, served in a sizzling cast iron skillet, so I forgive them any other sins for having created that.

Having a small snack plate with some of my recently-gifted crackers - they’re excellent! They have a classic saltine taste, but they’re sturdier, so they hold up great to smearing on some of that soft cheese.

We’ve also had them in soup the other night, and they really kept their crunch in that as well.

Yum!

Mmm, I know how everything on that plate tastes and now I want it.
