What did you eat/cook today (February 2017)?

Fillet steak, jacket potato, cauliflower and the remainder of the mushroom sauce (plus English mustard, of course).....

I see the steak looks almost black in the first picture. I do like my steak seared on the outside but the second picture is more representative of the actual true colour.

Tonight we went to see a comedy show followed by a vist to a Mangal

It seemed like a good idea at the time; bacon and egg double decker sandwich.

Then I put the lid on..........

[They were chicken eggs - we ran out of duck eggs at the weekend - more on the way today].

At times like those it is necessary to lick the plate so as to not to waste the yolk, they do go a long bit firm when cooled and stick to the plate

Something else I've never tried, although I have got a recipe somewhere which included charred lettuce. I'm trying to find my recipe (or a decent recipe) for lettuce soup. It can be rather tasty. I don't think it even occurs to a lot of people that lettuce can be cooked.
Lettuce soup is very good and I was thinking of posting a recipe too! I think it can be quite simple - butter, onions, lettuce and cream or dairy substitute such as almond milk. Have a bash! I may try it tomorrow.

Tonight will be chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and some vegetables.

This morning's ingredients for salsa.......
