Tako aka Octopus, AH YUM!!!

We had a petitioner stop by right as MrsT was collecting these (liquor licenses for new businesses have to be voted on here), and when she saw them, she was almost teary-eyed, talking about growing up picking them at her grandparents’ farm, so we gave her a big handful and she gulped them down right there!

I watched some people come into our field and start picking our blackberries last year.
I was absolutely torn about what to do about it.
I concluded I wasn't going to pick them so they may as well and pretended I hadn't seen them but I did think it was a bit cheeky to not ask if they could!

Before we downsized, we had a huge avocado tree in our fenced in back yard, though some branches hung over the fence. Even though it wasn't fenced, our property extended down a sloped grassy area to about 10 feet into the water edge of the lake behind our house. No one was supposed to be on the waterfront property other than lake homeowners and one section where the clubhouse and pool were on the lake. Every year though, people would come and pick avocados off the tree even though it was obviously private property.

What really ticked me off was that about once a week we would gather fallen avocados and those about to fall and put them out in a box by the road with a FREE sign. They couldn't wait and had to trespass on and steal from private property?

The other thing was we had the best fishing area around the lake because there was a long, wide shallow ledge on part of our property. A big male strawberry bass had staked his territory there and if he realized somebody was down close to the water, he would swim up onto that ledge and follow you as you walked. Craig and our neighbor a couple doors down would catch and release, but I was always afraid somebody would catch and eat him. But, regardless, we didn't want anybody back there fishing or whatever due to liability issues.

I had to run people off numerous times, kids and adults. Had to threaten to call police a couple of times, even did once. Got tired of the confrontations so started turning the sprinklers on every time I saw somebody back there. That worked very well.

Yer I get the liability bit big time. My in-laws don't want anyone on the property who's not in the areas they're not supposed to be in. We used to let people walk their dogs wherever they liked here but then someone who worked for the waterboard decided to walk his dog and inspect every water trough tap he could find. Got notice that we had the wrong type of taps n piping (it was old style stuff no longer used) and had 6 weeks to remedy it at the cost of 20k

Then shortly after a photographer stepped backwards off a tiny bank (moving backwards without looking to get her shot) and broke her ankle. She sued us. And that was that, no-one on the land other than employees in designated areas.

They did relent a bit, dig a large pond and plant a lot of trees including apple trees for people to enjoy but it really sullies your view when you try to share and people take the mickey like they did with your avocado tree.

Love the sprinklers, made me lol 😂

MrsT is on a snack chip craving, looks like.

I did have a funny little moment at ALDI. I was bopping around the store, getting this and that (I should mention that my usual shopping method is to leave my cart at the ends of the aisles and do a fetch up and back for the things I need), and being my usual self, I was whistling quietly and sort of skipping here and electric sliding there, putting my items in the cart and boogieing up and back for this and that.

There was an ancient woman there, she had to be 90 if she was a day, stooped over so that she had to sort of look up at everyone and everything, and when we finally crossed carts, she said, “Young man, I do believe you’re the happiest boy I’ve ever seen!”

I said thanks and something like “Well, every day above ground beats a hundred below,” and then she added, “The whole world’s just so pizzed off at…everything, and I’m just glad there’s one person who isn’t!”

Exciting news. Some of you might not know my son has anaphylactic level allergies to a few things including peanuts and tree nuts.
Well after 4 hours at the hospital yesterday and him being tested with 24 different allergens it looks like he's NOT allergic to almonds or brazil nuts! 👏

So..

I won't bore you with why they have to be bought whole in their shells but tadaaaaa
Can't believe it, over twenty years of no nuts in the house and now this is on it's way!
💃 🕺🕺🕺

Also winging it's way here is a nutcracker which isn't something I ever thought I'd own again!

He's got himself quite excited and started reeling off a list of things he wants to try.
I think he said Macarons are first followed by marzipan.

Figs. I have to admit that I was “slightly”skeptical to buy them, the inner voice in my head kept saying “ don’t do it, they have no taste, for God Sake it’s June not August, is just a waste of money. They look very nice, but once you eat them, you would beat yourself.
Wait for August for good succulent figs, trust me.”
Yeah.
The fruit seller “ Would you like anything else?”
Me: “ yes those figs!” 🤣

And……….. No taste. Only nice look.
Well, got the lesson.
