What would you choose?

But for the place to be that empty, it must be an ongoing problem, so...guess you won't be going back anytime soon!
It wasn’t as empty as it looked - just the counter - all the booths all along the wall were all occupied, which is where I was shooting from. Maybe one was open, but decently busy.

This is maybe our fifth time in 15 years. It’s some distance from the house (45 minutes), but it’s a really nice country drive the whole way, which is why we like it. It’s never been stellar, just average/acceptable at the best of times, but today, it was just plain terrible.

That diner is a modern replica of classic dining car diners from the 20’s & 30’s, and it cost a lot to have it custom-built and delivered, really surprised me when they did, but they’ve been in business for about as long as we’ve been here.

Funny thing is, two towns up from there (Sabina) is an original dining car diner, and it shut down right after we moved here (we ate there once…meh) and finally reopened maybe three years ago, right during Covid.

It’s fantastic, but we can’t eat there. For whatever reason, it smells like the hottest outhouse on the hottest day of the year, after a chili-eating contest. Food’s delicious, smell of the place is putrid. 🤷

We have 2 Moonlite Diners like that. They are packed on the weekends so we go once in a while during the week, either late breakfast, or early or late lunch because they can get pretty busy during the week as well. They have a chocolate croissant with fresh strawberries special they have now and again that is to die for.

... dunno ...
do I want to try the "Summer Black Truffle" ?? medtran49 not sure ... I've never had truffles before ...
I can almost guarantee it is not fresh truffle but rather preserved (jarred or canned) and chopped, or in a compound butter, since it's in a fonduta, which I wouldn't have that dish anyway because of the squid ink pasta, cheese and squid ink, just nope!

BTW, winter truffles have more taste and aroma than summer truffles. Winters cost more though.

That menu looks right up my street. I could probably eat 90% of that. All that lovely fish and seafood, and some creative appetisers. I think chicken and pasta go together like anchovies and marshmallows, but I'd be happy with the crab and the squid ink.

Ford's Burgers, in Norwood, Ohio. There's evidently some connection to Henry Ford, because the decor is just amazing; petrol pumps for door handles, cutlery wrapped in "greasy rags", half-built Ford vehicles on a production line around the ceiling; the whole place is just great. The menu, however, is definitely NOT for vegetarians or weight watchers. The recommended calorie intake for men is between 2,000 - 3,000 per day. I kept mine below 1,000, but if I'd had the Onion Rings (which looked absolutely amazing), I'd have hit 2,300 calories in one fell swoop.

I’d get the pretzels to start and probably the patty melt for my main.

There are only two burgers on there I’d ever eat - the patty melt and the American Standard. All the rest have something on them that I don’t like (at least on a burger).
