What's going on in your garden (2024)?

We're at the beginning of Autumn here in the UK so my garden is looking pretty sad at the moment, the BBQ has it's winter cover on and my patio chairs are packed away. On the plus side the birds are still loving it as I've started to put bird food out when it's really cold.
We are opposite to you down here. I filled our lpg bottle for a bbq tomorrow family dinner. Swap a bottle $48 will last couple of years. Expected high tomorrow 25 c .

I know - I visited New Zealand (South of the North Island) back in April 2006 and everywhere I looked people were in trousers and long sleaves but I was in my T-Shirt and Shorts as 21° was summer weather to me but to everyone around me it was the end of summer and a bit chilly as far as they were concerned!

Finally started the fall garden clean-up today. Emptied out clay pots, drained the rain barrel, pulled out all the annuals and tomato cages from the garden, pulled the plastic I used to solarize the soil up…you get the idea.

I still have a lot to do, but it’s a start. Hopefully I can get the rest done next weekend (minus raking the leaves onto the veggie garden - most of the leaves are currently still on the trees).

I did some transplanting today. The passion fruit seedlings were big enough to separate into larger pots; the scotch bonnet chiles were also transplanted into bigger pots, and a few Thai chile plants were also repotted. Aditionally, I put alcantarea imperialis into some better, clay pots so that I can enjoy the flowers...in 25 years' time...
