Your other hobbies.

believe elves dressed a little heavier than faries, who are usually dressed in light gauzy fabrics. She's also a princess so I guess she has to dress a little more stuffy.
That makes sense. Lovely idea and a sweet story. You enjoying the project is what matters most.
Oh I have now seen the After picture, absolutely stunning! Beautiful work!

I don't know if this counts as a hobby yet, but I'm learning it for a reason.

I'm doing a patchwork quilting course at the moment. It's 5 weeks long (was meant to be 4, but has been extended at no extra cost). It's something I wanted to do and going back to uni full time means I'll not have chance again for a couple of years.

This is the first project. All of the patch work was sewn together by hand. The test of the project and the rest of the course is done on a sewing machine.

Lovely colour choices ❤️

I have gotten brave and cast on my very first attempt at knitting a sock.

Wish me luck! I’m not used to double-pointed needles and finding them a little tricky to get the hang of.

SatNavSaysStraightOn is the mistress of sock-making. I'm sure she can offer tips. Good luck!

Yeah, just yell if you need help.

Are you knitting toe up or cuff down? A heel and gusset sock or a tube stick with an afterthought heel?

These are the latest pair of socks, just a vanilla rib stock for my neighbour for chook sitting.

Plus I'm getting close to finishing my Fairisle Club jacket by Marie Wallin

I ran out of the dark blue on Saturday which I needed to finish the project.

The underarms of the sleeves are complete, but the overarm section wasn't wide enough, so I've had to add more to it. That's where I ran out of dark blue.

I am knitting cuff down, which I think is good because I will have time to get used to using the dpns before I have to start worrying about increases and decreases.

It’s a heel and gusset sock. My friend gave me this pattern since it is supposed to be a good “first sock” pattern, and she used it to make a pair of socks a couple years ago.

So far I have managed to cast on, join in the round, and knit 3 rows. I hope I get used to the dpns soon, they feel very weird to use.

They are at first. It's also what I learnt on. I found that it was easier with 5, (4 holding stitches and the 5th for knitting with) than with 4.

I have since migrate to a 9inch or 23cm circular needle, but I still do the heel flap and heel turn on dpns, before returning to the 23cm circular needle.
