Italian heros/subs/grinders/hoagies et al

Do you cook the cold cuts in your Italian heros/subs/grinders/hoagies?

There’s an excess, a decadence to the sandwiches that are shown. That’s not the Brit way. Why have ten slices when you can make do with one? 😂
Plus if it can’t be eaten with a knife and fork or doesn’t politely fit in your gob without making a mess it’s a no no 😂
It’s better now but eating messy food is still not high of the popularity list.
Oh noooooo the more meat and cheese the better!
DH wanted me to add to this conversation, mayonnaise is never used on an Italian sandwich, ever!
Our Niece-in-law from Maryland, just over the state line from Philly, puts mayo-gobbles of the stuff-on her hoagie which sends shivers down DH's spine ... "NOOOOOO! Liz, stop that, it's just not right!"
Thankfully mine was not an Italian sandwich...

DH was just asking me if we could order Amoroso rolls online ... yes we can, but it's a minimum order of 60 rolls/case.
Now, if I could find someone here in Cowboyville to share that order with ... you don't want to keep bread/rolls frozen for too terribly long before it goes whonky.
Bread pudding anyone??? 😉

SandwichShortOfAPicnic which is why there's the Guy Fieri "the hunch"
I keep telling my DH this, ya gotta do the hunch dude or it gets all over ya!!!
Nope. He’s got burger heaven all wrong, you want a bit of every flavour in each mouthful. You don’t want 10 bites of just burger or just bun before you can get to the bit where the combo of ingredients actually tastes good!
That’s one of those blokey burger p*s*ing contest. They should give us something better!

But the US sandwiches I think are different, they are filled edge to edge and you would get to enjoy every bite, until you fell into a food coma 😂

I used to be able to eat 1/2 lb burgers along with fries and a milkshake in my youth. Now I do about 3 oz (less than 1/4 lb) sliders (mini bun size) with just a few fries (or none) and no milkshake.

So just to make sure what I’ve assumed is correct - when Americans say “deli meat” they mean sandwich meat?
And “Italian meats” refers to only Italian cured meat or all cured meat?
Around where I live in northern New Jersey, meats/cheeses (all types) from the deli and cold cuts (whether sliced fresh or pre-packaged) are the same thing, and are usually just called "cold cuts".

Vote: depends if I'm making a Meatball Sandwich on an Italian roll with Hot Peppers, Provolone cheese and just a touch of Marinara is what my American-Italian husband requests is served hot

Also a Cheesesteak is served warm as well. This was a joint in Tucson Arizona we frequented and I would request Rapini on the side.

A cold cut sandwich is what he calls a Hoagie

Served cold.
My DH is from a suburb of Philadelphia. The first time I ever had a real Italian sandwich was at Pudge's in Blue Bell, PA.
We got one Cheesesteak and one Italian Hoagie, both 20 inches and shared ... we had enough food leftover for another meal for us two.
Only the last/bottom one would be considered an "Italian" sub/hero around here (BTW, YUM!). The other two are just hot subs/heros.

Mayo on an Italian is a big NO NO! Just oil and vinegar and seasoning.

Except I think in Louisiana they "DRESS" the subs/heros which is shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, sliced pickles, and mayonnaise. YUCK on an Italian! But ok on other cold subs like turkey, roast beef and a club or BLT is good.
