A picnic lunch.
My wife says it smells like body odour..lolAsafoetida does taste vaguely like onions and garlic, and is used in Indian cookery for those strict Hindus who will not eat onions or garlic for religious reasons. However, it has some flavour notes which identify it as a seriously Asian spice, and I would not put it into a paella. It'd be akin to covering your pizza with ketchup instead of tomato salsa.
Never heard and never tried, before reading it on this forum. My wife says it smells like body odour..lol
Well done for trying. If you never try things, you never learn.A fail, in all aspects, but it's the learning curve...
True - they’re so backward in their tastes, I actually take a little bit of pleasure in sending them “weird” things that I make, just to get their reactions.Moral of the tale:
NEVER share your food with your siblings
Thank you.Well done for trying. If you never try things, you never learn.

I really appreciate it when people are honest about fails, the listing of what was wrong with it or what you’d do differently next time makes me trust the persons judgmentA fail, in all aspects, but it's the learning curve...
Originally, I aimed for gluten free homemade tagliatelle. Millet flour. Eggs. Despite the guar, no hold.
Basically they cooked like Spaetzle.
Soy oil, don't like the taste, industrial to me.
Saffron, did not release much colour in the soy oil.
Onion was bland. Omitted garlic, caring not to overpower Saffron.
Couldn't wait to grab the vegan parmiggiano or the olives, to uplift.
Just a no, from all sides.
My consolation was a fresh peach afterwards.
There was a fun moment though, 1 of the eggs was a twin. I used 2 eggs, but you see 3 yolks. Never happened before, as far as memory goes.

Green beans and potatoes simmering away in some ham stock.
I'm thinking it's a BBQ sandwich on a hotdog bun.View attachment 117346
Pulled some of the pork off the ribs we had last night and made that into a pork dog, I guess, and some green beans and potatoes, which take me right back to 1975, eating at my grandmom’s.
