What did you cook or eat today (July 2023)?

I ate 3 pieces of toasted baguette and butter for breakfast, a bowl of pistachios for a snack, and for lunch I sauteed some bacon, garlic cloves and onion then tossed in a !/3 bunch of turnip greens until lightly wilted (it cooked down to a medium bowl full). Perfect eating for me alone. I'll be making a steak sandwich for dinner. It's weird cooking for one.

I cook alone at times , I get what I want.
I like it. Or get takeaways.

When we go to aussie we do road trips and we do the same. Buy a few things for a few days then move on. Looking at food from somewhere else is entertaining for me.

If I was here vacationing and was with my husband or family we'd do some dining out, but just me I'll not bother. If I was in another country with different food I'd definitely go eat at restaurants.

Still trying to perfect this Siew Mai dimsum; increased the pork fat percentage and got it a little bit closer today:

Spent the weekend working on my house with the assistance of Non-Picky Eater. We strolled down to the Farmer's Market on Sunday and were delighted by what was on offer. I only had presence of mind to snap one dish (sorry for the crap lighting and cellphone photo), roasted golden beets with garlic scapes.

I went to Kroger yesterday and they had beef brisket on sale for $1.78 lb so I bought one. No smoker here (and too hot in Texas) so I had the butcher trim off the excess fat and cut it into 1/3rds. I put a portion in the crockpot last night with some soy sauce, garlic, and a few other seasonings and froze the other two portions.

This morning the brisket was tender, juicy, and just perfectly cooked. I made myself some crispy fries and a sandwich with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. So good!

i ate lunch at noon today, which is very weird for me, but I was up at 6 a.m. (which is also very weird for me).

I finally cooked something!

Grilled Rib Eye smothered in Wild Mushrooms, Garlic and Butter (it was frozen-ready to cook from Trader Joe's) served with AF French Fries and a side Salad (I could only eat half of this, but DH was only too happy to help me out by finishing it up for me ).
Super easy meal to make, not to mention that I so wanted to eat this!
Poor DH has been fending for himself for over two months, eating sandwiches, take out (that I've called in for him) or prepared fruit bowls from the market.
We've both lost some weight during this time :giggle:
